In 2018, I remember training by a primarily-white church (in a county of Trump/Reagan strongholds) for lay counseling; it was empathy that the leaders sought for this ministry.I'm going to apply Dr. Jemar Tisby's description of racism's changing to misogyny, for which we resistors also adapt to counter & call it out!
I appreciate Drs. Du Mez & Butler Bass pointing out the need for both determining bright lines & looking for cracks or angles for nonviolent resistance. We consider our bright lines in advance so that we don't obey in advance while we look for creative, collective ways to make inroads with nonviolent resistance.
