So thought-provoking as always, appreciate each of you. Thankful you brought up the Save Act, (and household vote). So many aren't aware of its potential impact in limiting women's votes. Think it also slipped by many when Trump mentioned the SAVE Act as a solution to the divisions in US during NBC's (concerning) Superbowl interview with him. ...And yes, solutions to restoring democracy & what has been lost will be on the backs of people joining together. Eager for your upcoming books! Kristin can imagine the sweat & stress it took to finish yours. Congrats!
I keep coming back to the question that I ask myself; “What can I do now “? I was hearted by the speech that my Bishop of New Hampshire made regarding the things happening in Minnesota. As someone living in “safely blue” Vermont, I worry about my neighbors who live in New Hampshire. I think we all need to witness and act locally as well as to speak out across the nation. There is so much fear out there and yet so much hope. This 250th Anniversary of our country can’t be left to the federal government’s whitewashed message of embellishment. It’s up to local communities to tell the unvarnished growing pains of our democracy.
Excellent program yesterday! It certainly was lively and I appreciated, despite the topics and little levity disguised as disgust. Which was pretty much what I was feeling. Thanks to all of you for this one. Someone mentioned something but I didn't catch the whole thing, but were there actually people who walked out of the Prayer Breakfast? I have a hard time even calling it that because obviously it was anything but. Thanks Robby.
I do feel less alone listening to you all. Sometimes I check in to lament, which, as Jemar says, is also valuable. Also, shoutout to Robert whose work was cited by Hillary Clinton in her recent Atlantic article!
I might be the only one who, while knowing that TCU stands for, still automatically reads it as "Texas Christian University". I still chuckle a bit at that.
That aside, I appreciate this discussion and the ones you've done up to now. I did notice that Diana Butler Bass was not on the chat this time. I wonder if you can find ways (if you know ahead of time, anyway) to have a "guest" on when you are going to miss a regular participant. I appreciated when Angela Denker came on the program while Jemar was away. Perhaps that can happen more often?
Thanks for continuing these discussions! Blessings!

I live in a first ring suburb of Minneapolis. With regard to Jemar’s call to clergy - this is courage.
