Excellent conversation. I can highly recommend a fiction book (series) that begins with The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal. It is an alternative history where after World War II, a meteor strikes the Earth and obliterates much of the east coast of the U.S., including Washington D.C., causing a climate cataclysm. Women wear crinolines; racism is rife. Elma York’s experience as a WASP pilot and mathematician earns her a place as a computer (person, not machine), where she wonders why women can’t go into space, too. If the human race is to survive, it will take everyone to colonize the stars.

I just heard Jemar Tisby's wonderfully astonishing celebration (!) to be doing theological anthropology!!! I wanted to say amen, amen, amen!

I also want to repeat an earlier plea for a major campaign to "disaggregate" "The Trump Voter" and recognize for strategic purposes what I am sure is an enormous diversity that is rendered invisible by that use of "them" or "they" as in "how could they vote for him. Thank you - for convocaion unscripted.

Any suggestions for our "coup-prep"? I'm reading "Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present" by Ruth Ben-Ghiat & some folks had prepped with "coup-bags." Any suggestions with prep your making while also countering our current internal coup of the competitive authoritarian regime?

Sharing finds for prep so far:

There's concern that Substack may be overtaken; some folks are downloading info for keeping.

I enjoy your conversations unscripted & laughs too! Thanks for the shout out to the Mennonites leading the legal challenge with ecumenical partners.

I thought of Dr. Andrew DeCort's courageous speech at the Middle East dinner following the Nat'l Prayer Breakfast, "The Jesus We Haven't Heard Yet," https://youtu.be/IhTMop8uJQE from https://revbillhaley.substack.com/p/jesus-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast

It's inspiring to hear & see courageous folks for faith & justice today...still! And about the courts/law, it seems we need to engage now, https://substack.com/home/post/p-157198598?source=queue
