We found and watched Miller's speech. They have their private army (ICE); they have their mass detention facilities, they have Directive 7 to coordinate all levels of law enforcement, they know in advance who to look for, and they are capable of reading minds to discern intentions. They know the midterms are coming. It is not inappropriate to fear what is coming.

I do wish to point out that Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is not a DSA or socialist candidate. He identifies as a capitalist who believes in regulations and medicare for all. Not much different from Teddy Roosevelt (R),, FDR (D) and Eisenhower (R). It's just that the right has moved so far, Dr. El -Sayed appears radical. You are right though, El-Sayed voters and supporters (like me and I live in NYC), can never and will never support Stevens. They will sit it out. I don't believe Stevens voters will sit it out. When push comes to shove, they will vote for El-Sayed. Ruth C.
I have been thinking about South Korea, as well, and just how did they stop the apparent coup immediately. All of you discussed size of country, ours larger; and then Robby gave the example that folks just don’t care. I believe there is another reason why we have not been able to do the same here: no one remembers when we were slipping into authoritarianism in this country and so there is a very dominant attitude of “it could never happen here,” even though there is SO much happening. SK is adjacent to NK…they see what happens there; they may still have relatives in the north; and they experience the attempts from the north to escape, however infrequently that may happen. And together, they said absolutely not here and took over.
