Thank you! I like watching your facial expressions during your unscripted discussions (still on YouTube) as well as hearing your thought-provoking content. Hearing you together live is another advantage with the Faith & Democracy Tour. Meanwhile, I look forward to each CU episode. Thanks for all your advocacy for Faith & democracy amidst these times of pushback for truth-telling.

I'm still pondering Dr. Diana Butler Bass' observations about the slant of 1 VP candidate towards suburban women by wearing a pink tie, etc. with the dangerous appeal of being trustworthy & compassionate while spewing. Thanks for continuing to address the great risks of white Christian nationalism (wCN) & Project 2025.

Personally, I'm learning about my Mennonite/pacifist ancestors who enslaved people after settling in the colonies as religious refugees. Missing from various sources & the fam's oral narrative is that our ancestors were Mennonite enslavers. Our ancestor was a prominent, wealthy figure who built a Mennonite church on his property. His sons followed as Mennonite enslavers too.

I read the distinction of that building. "In 1712 the Swiss Mennonite settlers..., erected a log structure to serve the two-fold purpose of a meeting-house for religious worship on Sunday, and for secular instruction during the week." https://ia601608.us.archive.org/23/items/briefhistoryof00clar/briefhistoryof00clar.pdf

For my experiences with wCN, truth (& history) is ignored & spun to promote Christian education & "honoring" family, church & nation. Today wCN still demands honor, gratitude, hierarchy & reconciliation defined as conforming--while ignoring & confusing truth. Such narratives perpetuated for generations & still are bequeathed.

Dr. Jemar Tisby's quotes:

"History and Scripture teach us that there can be no reconciliation without repentance. There can be no repentance without confession. There can be no confession without truth." "The Color of Compromise"

"The impetus for public justice in the Christian life comes from the ethical demands of love." "As we begin to treat each other with more love and empathy, it will not only change the world around us; it will also change us." "How to Fight Racism"
